On this page you'll find a collection of our Bob and Barn soundtracks in mp3 form or as a good old traditional CD. In the case of the latter, we'll adorn with our signatures if CD grafitti is your kind of thing.
Primal Original Soundtrack Album
Signed, personalised limited edition soundtrack available exclusively from bobandbarn.com
.
We at Bob & Barn are incredibly proud of this achievement. Our FIRST album is also the FIRST time that Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has ever authorised a video game soundtrack. We have been trying to persuade them to release an album for over SIX years and it has finally happened, they must think it is good ?
“’Primal’ is an orchestral and choral tour-de-force with strong themes and rich orchestrations.”
MediEvil: Resurrection Original Soundtrack Album
Bob and Barn proudly presents "MediEvil™ Resurrection", their 2nd official video game soundtrack.
Fresh from a raft of award nominations after our 2003 release “Primal™”, the follow up is an eclectic mix that reflects both the gothic horror and the irreverent humour of the MediEvil™ series, delivering a soundtrack that adds both atmosphere and suspense to the game.
Why don't you have a listen?
Sega Rally Soundtrack Album
Signed, personalised limited edition soundtrack available exclusively from bobandbarn.com
.
A bit of a departure from our orchestral past but definitely a challenge we relished. Writing the score for Sega Rally proved interesting as we were constantly writing in unusual meters. The strings were, as always, recorded in Prague and the rest of the music was recorded, mixed and mastered here in the UK. I hope you like listening to it as much as we enjoyed writing it.
Reloop
Introducing Reloop from Bob & Barn Ltd., a Soundforge ONLY Direct-X plugin designed specifically to automate a process that has plagued sound designers, musicians and audio programmers within the video games industry for over a decade.
What does it do?
Reloop modifies samples and allows them to conform to byte boundaries.
What’s a byte boundary?
Byte boundaries are normally associated with console based looping sound effects & music files which, based on platform limitations, have to conform to a precise length of samples based on a multiple of a unique number – otherwise they’ll glitch horribly each time the sample loops! This number differs according to each console (it’s different for Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s Playstation (1&2) for example). Traditionally, this would mean sitting with a sample editor and a calculator ensuring that the sample length is an exact multiple of this unique number. This is rather boring and soul destroying – especially if you have to do this for different platforms!
How does it work?
Bob & Barn Ltd. employed the services of Dylan Menzies, PhD. (Digital Signal Processing at Cambridge university) from Zenprobe Software who spent over six months creating and perfecting the algorithms that allow this plugin to be 100% reliable in invisibly conforming samples to byte boundaries on all current and next-gen consoles & home computers for both stereo & mono samples over 5000 samples in length (this figure maybe a lot less but it depends entirely on the nature of the sample and the byte boundary). In his own words...
Reloop incorporates an advanced signal processing design that modifies the whole loop, rather than using the conventional approach with cross fade regions that can generate noticeable artifacts. The DirectX protocol has had to be stretched to accommodate this technique but the result is a plugin that will operate seamlessly within the Soundforge batch
processing framework
OK, I’m interested, what now?
Download the demo. It’s been locked to work on 50 samples. Feel free to try it out on a number of different files, then just pop the final length into a calculator, divide by 50 to prove it’s doing what it says it is (if everything goes to plan you shouldn’t be able to hear a single difference).
Not only is the effect invisible to hear, the benefits truly come into their own when you consider the potential of putting in a ‘magic’ number which will conform samples to work on EVERY platform you’re developing for, thus negating the need for multiple source files. For NDA reasons we cannot disclose the unique numbers for each platform here, but drop us an email and we’ll give you some pointers. Please bear in mind the higher the number, the higher the likelihood of a noticeable effect on small files (less than 10,000 samples in length.)

This is a Soundforge ONLY Direct-X plugin (Direct-X is not normally designed for this sort of application, hence our focus upon the most popular 2-track sample editor for use within the games industry (research conducted by Andrew Barnabas in May 2005 showed that over 70% of 100 games companies polled worldwide used Soundforge)). It’s been tested on Win 2K & XP on all versions of Soundforge from 4.5 upwards.
