Amstardam – Dreams and Hallucinations
A very different type of cue for what was a predominantly live orchestral score. But we decided to throw in a homage to Django Reinhardt with this gypsy jazz track. And why not, indeed?
Dispatches – Brexit: How to Get a British Passport – Opening Titles
Reporter Datshiane Navanayagam investigates the many hurdles and costs that people face applying for British citizenship and passports.
Dispatches – Brexit: How to Get a British Passport – A Hefty Price
As part of their ‘Brexit’ series, Channel 4 aired an episode of Dispatches entitled: ‘Brexit – How to Get a British Passport,’ exploring the complex process of becoming a citizen, with a focus on the ongoing uncertainty over the future of EU nationals in the UK.
Dispatches – Brexit: How to Get a British Passport – Holby City
Loved doing this one!! We had to write a piece of music similar to the Holby City theme for the documentary since they couldn’t just use the original piece without clearing the rights.
Dispatches – Brexit: How to Get a British Passport – Bargaining Chip
This is a more typical documentary cue, but since the score was bespoke we were able to synchronise the music so that it is frame accurate throughout. It’s no accident that the music changes along with edits in the video and that the shape of the cue matches the on-screen story.
Dispatches – Brexit: How to Get a British Passport – End Credits
This is a reprise and development of the music from the opening credits. Documentaries typically use library music but since this was a bespoke score it was possible to revisit common themes as we would with a TV show, game or film.
The Hatton Garden Job – 100% Discretion
A rather ironic title since that appears to be the exact opposite of what the gang did following their successful heist and it helped to see them all return to prison literally weeks afterwards.
The Hatton Garden Job – I’ve Been Back
There’s a mixture of styles in this cue. Starting with a kind of western feel that we decided to give to Clive’s character followed by a return to the funk music more typical of a heist movie like this.
The Hatton Garden Job – Chocolate Eggs
A welcome return to writing funk music for a project, not something we’d done for quite a few years. Synonymous now with heist films, it’s great fun to write music like this.
